Silver Spur Granola

  • 1 42 oz. box Quaker Old Fashioned Oats
  • 1 cup raw almonds
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup raw cashews
  • 1 cup raw peanuts
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 cup canola oil
  • sesame seeds

Put the oats and nuts (you can really use any kind that you like) in a large bowl. Microwave honey and oil together, just to warm. Pour over oats and toss with a large spoon to coat everything. Spread in a heavy, roasting-size pan, ungreased. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  • Cook for 20 minutes at 400°. Stir.
  • Cook for 20 minutes at 350°. Stir.
  • Cook for 20 minutes at 300°. Stir.
  • Cook for 20 minutes at 250°.

Final product should be golden brown and dry. You can turn off the oven and leave the granola to do its final toasting.

Add raisins or craisins as you serve the granola. They really don’t do well mixed in and stored. Store in an airtight container (completely cool first). It should keep for a month in a cool cupboard.
